ROLL YOUR EYES, TOUCH YOUR TOES, LOOK THROUGH YOUR LEGS AND WIGGLE YOUR NOSE!
New Book and Doll Teach How To Turn A Bad Situation Right Side Up
La Quinta, CA – Saddy & Gladdy is a new interactive book and doll featuring Haddy, a little girl who has a trick to help her through difficult situations -- “she rolls her eyes and touches her toes, she looks through her legs and wiggles her nose!” When the reader sees her “trick” in the book, they turn the book upside down and find out what Haddy does to turn the situation around! Rather than being sad when she has to clean up her room, go to bed, or take medicine, Haddy has a way to make herself feel glad. By turning the book upside down, Haddy shows children how to turn a Saddy situation into a Gladdy one!
With this interactive book and doll, parents can show children that with a quick magical trick they can change their mood from sad to glad! Sparked by a clever rhyming ritual and inventive imagination, children learn how to turn negative situations into positive experiences.
Haddy jumps off the pages of Saddy & Gladdy as a soft, cuddly doll. Just as in the book, Haddy can be “turned over” from a Saddy into a Gladdy. On one side, she wears her signature blue jumper and yellow t-shirt and looks adorable with her freckles and curly brown ponytail. Haddy looks sad, so what a little girl can do is just turn her upside down and make her happy! Wearing a hot pink dress and a smile on her face on the other side, Haddy has turned her attitude around! The doll and book come together in a clear heavy-duty plastic backpack, allowing little girls to bring Haddy with them everywhere reminding them how to turn “lemons into lemonade.”
Created by Lynn Huberman, Saddy & Gladdy is written by Mark Burk and illustrated by Sandy Beegle. Haddy was born out of a difficult period in Lynn’s life. In the midst of turmoil, Lynn began to realize that she had the power to turn things around. She discovered that instead of dwelling on the negative, and by focusing on the positive, her outlook changed entirely. With her years of working with children Lynn realized that she had learned that the power of positive thinking could be shared with kids – and Haddy was born.
